Engagement sessions are the perfect way to start thinking about your wedding photos that are coming up, as well as getting the opportunity for some candid and casual shots beforehand.
These sessions are also a great time to get to know your photographer a little better, as well as getting comfortable with them and the camera before the wedding! My sessions are one to two hours long, so you will be pros by the end.
01. scheduling
Each season is special, wherever we are in the world, so we'll schedule your engagement session so you can get the pictures you've been dreaming of! Whether it's a winter wonderland, springtime in bloom, a sun-filled beach day, or the colors of fall, we'll figure out the perfect time for your shoot.
I pride myself on capturing moments of intimacy - moments that perfectly capture who you both are as a couple, so this is something to think about when booking your date! Do you want an outdoor roller-skating session? A date at your favorite diner? Let's talk about it!

02. location
When choosing the location for your engagement session, you can nail it down by thinking whether the two of you have a special place that you like to go, or a place that reminds you of one another. You can also go to the same place that the proposal was for a full circle moment.
Fourth Presbyterian Church
The Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago is a stunning session location. With its Gothic Revival-style architecture, intricate stonework, and beautiful stained glass windows, it offers a timeless and romantic backdrop.
North Avenue beach
Iconic Chicago location. This is always a good option if you want the skyline and water in your photos. Sunrise is usually the best time to do a session at this location but we have done it as a golden hour/sunset session it's just a little more busy!
The rookery building
The Rookery Building in Chicago is a stunning location for engagement sessions. With its historical architecture and unique features, it provides a beautiful backdrop for capturing special moments. It is recommended to book full access to the building for the best experience.
03. styling
Your engagement photos should feel like you, so I fully encourage you dressing in a way that feels authentic to who you are! With that being said, I do have a few tips and guidelines to make sure your photos come out in the best possible way!

Your engagement session is the best way for us to get to know each other even more, and figure out the style of shooting that works best for the two of you! Use this session as a rehearsal for the big day - learn how to relax in front of the camera, get comfortable taking photos with your partner, and forgetting that I'm even here!
With that in mind, here are some more of my favorite tips:
- Don't worry about how you look - embrace the moment and the photos will turn out!
- Avoid getting too much in your own head - all the couples you see on my website are real couples (no model experience needed!)
- Trust in the NTco. team to capture your authentic, candid, intimate moments in a way that suits you both!
- Focus on your person and enjoying the day with them; the photos will create themselves this way!
